Today is Bun Day in Iceland. Having lived in Iceland for the past 18 years, I am ashamed to say that my Icelandic is, in a word, atrocious. But still I battle on with the unfathomable grammar, unpronounceable pronunciation and the “impossible to learn unless you were born here” verb inflections. Moving backwards rather than forwards in most parts and still mixing up my genders. But before you judge me, I ask you this. Do you think the Icelandic word for bra is feminine or masculine?
